Egypt Recommended for Winter Golf Breaks

8 January, 2012

Golfers wanting to book a holiday over the winter might wish to consider Egypt, thanks to its wide variety of good quality courses and fine weather.

The country’s tourism agency has described Egypt as “perfect” for golfers looking for a few rounds overseas, and said that many of the country’s courses even offer “historical backdrops” to make the experience even more appealing. Popular golfing destinations within Egypt include the Alexandria Sporting Club, which is one of the oldest clubs of its kind in Egypt, having opened its doors in 1898, and the club’s course is open to visitors as well as members.

Another option for keen golfers is the course in Hurghada – an 18-hole complex with stunning views across the nearby mountains and sea. There is also the Taba Heights Golf Resort, which sits on the Sinai peninsula, allowing players to look out over three different countries as they complete their round.

The popular holiday resort of Sharm el Sheikh also boasts a championship-standard course which is open for visitors to play. The course is within extremely easy access of the nearest airport, being only around ten minutes from the international airport serving Sharm, as well as ten minutes from Naama Bay.
