Crocodile that attacked woman caught
RANGERS have caught a 1.5 metre saltwater crocodile that bit a woman on the neck in a popular swimming hole in the Northern Territory.
Crocodile catcher Tommy Nichols said the saltie was spotlighted and caught in clear water at Berry Springs Nature Park on the outskirts of Darwin, the Northern Territory News reported.
The animal attacked the woman yesterday. She suffered a puncture wound as she swam on her own.
“The woman was swimming with a mask, got too close to the crocodile, spooked it and it bit her,” Mr Nichols said.
“She didn’t want any medical attention and didn’t want anything to happen to the croc.”
It is unusual to find saltwater crocodiles in Berry Springs during the dry season.
Nicholls explained that it could be dangerous for the woman not to receive any medical attention as saltwater crocodiles are known to carry bacteria in their mouths that can cause serious illness.
